What is this game called, I played it as a lil' kid?

First of all it is olllld, probably from the ps1 era. All I know about it is that the main character is this teenage boy (BTW it is like a japanese fighting rpg), and the intro had him on a watchtower and a whole buncha locust (some kinda bug) come flying over. All help is thanked :)
