Why are the employees at Border's so obnoxious?

I shouldn't speak for all stores but these workers in my hometown are highly annoying. For instance, they wear these headsets like pilots (I know, not their fault, but still) and talk to themselves (I mean, to the person in the headset) and they are too perky and I secretly suspect half of them are on crystal meth. And then there was one snarky gay guy worker who can barely contain his peevish nature. I asked him a simple question and he had a testy edge to his effeminate voice. Ugh. Any brilliant thoughts on these wretched creatures?
